Earlier this week I woke up and decided to start researching Icelandic bands. I ended up tumbling down a rabbit hole that was both familiar and foreign at the same time. I came across some names I'd known for a long time and some that were soon to become favorites.
I'm adding this as a bonus playlist because it's kind of all over the place as far as genre or tone. It ranges from indie pop to neo-classical to folk to post-rock. The common thread that ties all these groups together is they all hail from the tiny beautiful island of Iceland. If you get a chance, please watch the Sigur Ros documentary Heima. It will give you a further understanding of how gorgeous and special that little country is.
