It's time once again to look back and discover something new. I'm sure I've said this before in my life, but I'll restate it now, I love soul. Soul music, early R&B, classic funk, Motown vocal groups and anything with some real feeling behind it. I'll take it all. It never ceases to amaze me that I can continue to find old songs and artists that I've never heard before and that completely blow my mind.
This playlist has been partially finished for a long time and I finally buckled down this weekend and filled it out. It's got some tracks you'll recognize for sure (real classics that you can't live without) and it's got some more obscure tunes that don't get played on the oldies station for some absurd reason. Chuck Jackson really tears down the house. Walter Jackson's voice should really be known as the "Pantie Peeler" because...god damn. Major Lance should never be forgotten despite the fact he was a bit of a one-hit-wonder. Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Jackie Wilson, Dee Dee Warwick, General Johnson & the Chairmen of the Board all bring the classic passion and amazing songwriting that is expected of them. Please enjoy all of it and remember: Everybody needs somebody.
